Welcome to the Junior/Senior Cycle SPHE Page!
Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) at Junior Cycle provides students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to develop as confident, healthy and connected individuals. It supports young people in making informed decisions, building positive relationships, and taking responsibility for their own wellbeing and that of others.
SPHE encourages students to explore key areas such as:
Health and Wellbeing – understanding physical, emotional and mental health
Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) – developing respect, consent, and positive relationships
Personal Safety and Decision-Making – making choices that promote wellbeing and resilience
Digital Wellbeing and Media Literacy – navigating the online world safely and responsibly
Through engaging lessons, discussions, and active learning, SPHE creates a safe space for students to explore issues relevant to their lives. It also helps them to develop essential life skills, such as communication, critical thinking, self-awareness and empathy.
SPHE at Junior Cycle is not just about classroom learning – it is about preparing young people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.
