Our Pupils Enjoying a Fantastic Day at the National Ploughing Championships!

Our pupils had a brilliant day out at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore, where they got the chance to experience Ireland’s biggest outdoor event up close!

From the moment we arrived, there was excitement in the air — tractors rumbling, music playing, and rows upon rows of stalls showcasing everything from new farm machinery to local crafts and foods. The pupils were amazed by the sheer scale of the event and loved exploring all the different exhibits.

A highlight of the day was getting to watch the ploughing competitions in action. Our students were fascinated by the skill and precision involved, and many couldn’t believe how straight and even the furrows were! Some even got to chat with competitors and learn about the techniques used to achieve such perfect lines.

Throughout the day, pupils also took part in interactive workshops and demonstrations, learning about sustainable farming, agri-technology, and environmental care. There were plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning, with pupils trying their hand at mini challenges, quizzes, and even some fun farm-themed games.

Of course, no trip to the Ploughing would be complete without a few treats! Between sampling local food stalls, meeting friendly animals, and picking up a few souvenirs, everyone went home tired but smiling.

The pupils represented our school wonderfully — showing great enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork all day long. It was a fantastic learning experience that gave everyone a real appreciation for the hard work and innovation behind Irish agriculture.

A huge thank you to the staff and parents who helped make the trip possible, and to the event organisers for such a warm welcome. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Ploughing! 🌾🚜
